Originally from Hyderabad, India, I worked as a reporter for six years
with a couple of English daily newspapers in India before coming to MSU
in the Fall semester of 2000. My last three years in India were spent
working with "The Hindu", India's leading English newspaper.
In 1995, I earned a masters degree in communication and journalism from
Osmania University (Hyderabad, India). The offer of being a teaching assistant
to the 2002 Australia media program hit me like a boomerang! Although
completing an MSU M.A. in journalism thesis on "Coverage of India's
economic liberalization program" was a priority, I could not let
go of this lifetime opportunity to visit the land down under. I wondered
about visiting the land of boomerangs and kangaroos that I had imagined
so many times in my childhood.
