Dr. Folu Ogundimu I trained at Indiana University (Bloomington, IN), and the University of Lagos (Nigeria), with degrees in mass communication, public & environmental affairs, journalism and political science. My professional experience includes work on newspapers, magazines, and broadcasting in both Nigeria and the U.S.A. At MSU, I teach courses on international journalism, media and society, broadcasting, computer-assisted reporting, and research methods. My research and publications include works on the African media and public policy, media training, political liberalization, press performance, and private enterprise broadcasting in sub-Saharan Africa. I have edited a special issue on democracy and mass media for the African Rural and Urban Studies journal and I am co-editor of Media and Democracy in Africa. (2002. Rutgers, NJ: Transaction Publishers). Currently, I serve as a Fellow of the UCLA Global Research Center on Africa, member of the advisory committee of the MSU African Studies Core Faculty, the editorial board of the International Journal of African Studies, and the advisory board of Luminere Productions project on "Democracy on Deadlines".
