Aborigines- The original habitants of Australia.

Acacia seeds- a seed that the Aborigines found are edible and grow into trees.

Bilby- a rat like marsupial native to Australia

Bivalve - a shell consisting of two hinged valves.

Bos indicus- any native indian cattle breed; normaly grashish humped breeds that are resistant to ticks. normally used for inner breeding, originate from asia, southern europe and africa.

Bos taurus - bovine cattle that are domesticated, they originate from the united kingdom and cooler parts in europe.

Brucellosis- A disease of domestic animals, such as cattle, sheep, goats, and dogs, that is caused by brucellae and sometimes results in spontaneous abortions in newly infected animals.

Buffel Grass - A troublesome invasive grass that is a major concern because it's overtaking major vegetation and fuels very hot fires.

Cane Beetle - A beetle attacking valuable sugar cane crops in Queensland, for which cane toads were intially brought in to control.

Feral- a domesticated animal that has become wild, untamed.

Flora- the plant life of particular region

Frog Decline Reversal Project- a research intiative started by the Cairns Frogs Hospital which tends to sick and injured frogs as well as researching frog diseases. The hospital is especially interested in the status of the cane toad in the environment and scientific discussion, as efforts to control cane toads may impact native species.

Invasive species- Animals and plants not native to Australia.

Island Arks - An initiative of the Northern Territory government to transport native species threatened or endangered by the invasive cane toad to offshore islands. The hope is to save these vulnerable species until a successful toad control method is discovered.

Keelback Snake - native australian snake believed to be immune to cane toad poison.

Kikuyu Grass - Introduced intentionally in the 1800's to stabilize banks of Montague Island. It is a major threat to the island's thousands of nesting sea birds.

Northern Quoll - It is an endangered relative of the Tasmanian devil that is most vulnerable to the invading cane toads.

Thylacine - A yellowish-brown with black stripes marsupial. It had a dog like head and the females had a pouch for carrying its young. They were a nocturnal animal whose prey consisted of kangaroos, small rodents and birds. Extinct since 1936. also known as Tasmanian Tiger and Tasmanian Wolf.

Tuberculosis - An infectious disease of humans and animals caused by the tubercle bacillus and characterized by the formation of tubercles on the lungs and other tissues of the body, often developing long after the initial infection.
